🌿 PRAKRITI – THE AYURVEDIC IDEA OF INDIVIDUALITY
Why the Same Food, Routine or Lifestyle May Not Suit Everyone
One of the most attractive aspects of Ayurveda is its emphasis on individuality.
We are not identical.
Our:
Body characteristics
Digestion
Activity
Sleep
Age
Occupation
Environment
Habits
Health conditions
are different.
Ayurveda traditionally describes individual constitutional patterns through Prakriti.
Prakriti Is Not a Medical Diagnosis
It is important to understand this distinction.
Prakriti is a traditional Ayurvedic framework.
It should not be used to diagnose diabetes, thyroid disease, anemia, depression or other medical conditions.
Nor should someone stop prescribed treatment because a practitioner describes their Prakriti in a particular way.
Why Individualization Matters
Consider exercise.
A young athlete may tolerate intense training.
An older adult with arthritis may need modified movement.
A pregnant woman requires a different exercise plan.
A person recovering from illness may need gradual activity.
The same principle applies to food and lifestyle.
The ANUKUL Individualization Model
Before giving lifestyle guidance, ask:
Who is the person?
What is their current health situation?
What is their lifestyle?
What are their goals?
What can they realistically maintain?
This is more useful than blindly copying another person's routine.
